This colourful work of art is part of the ‘Temple Keepers’ series, consisting of five works. While painting, Griet suddenly had visions of women connected to energetic places on earth and their spiritual power animals. This particular work invites us to return to the source of our being, the essence.
The Navajo call bears ‘The Mountain People’. Bears are believed to be guides and protectors who embody great strength and self-knowledge. They believe that bears have enormous healing powers (Western scientific studies are only just beginning to unravel the mysteries behind a bear’s ability to heal itself, recycle body waste and prevent bone and muscle loss during hibernation).
The composition is structured in such a way that the work radiates peace and harmony. The use of light and shadow to create depth and dimension is also subtle and effective.
This painting invites reflection on spiritual connection, strength and transformation. It emphasises the inner strength of the feminine.
