This work is part of a series of nine paintings in which the artist was inspired during the creative process by a song he suddenly received. This song comprised nine symbols and nine Songlines, each symbol connected to themes about finding uniqueness as a human being and expressing this in matter.
In this series, the matter, and thus the structure of the works, is revisited and re-experienced by the artist. The collage elements of sheet music add a tangible texture and reinforce the theme of expression and creativity.
The work ‘Rise up Feminine’ shows a powerful yet delicate female figure intertwined with a bird, emphasising the connection between nature and the human aspect. The dark, mysterious background landscape contrasts with the vibrant colours and details of the central figure, creating a strong visual and emotional effect.
It evokes a sense of empowerment and self-discovery.
